About NIT Silchar

National Institute Of Technology, Silchar is one of the 30 National Institutes of Technology of India and was established in 1967 as a Regional Engineering College in Assam. In 2002 it was upgraded to the status of National Institute of Technology and was declared as Institute of National Importance under the National Institutes of Technology Act, 2007. NIT Silchar is recognised nationwide as one of the pioneers in the field of engineering and research and aspires to be the preferred institute in the country.The sprawling, vibrant and lush-green campus covering an area of 600 acres with state of the art support system and excellent infrastructure, adds upto its reputation of producing the brightest minds of the country.

It is committed to making India innovative by documenting, adding value, protecting the intellectual property rights of the contemporary unaided technological innovators. NIS 2016 is to celebrate innovations and entrepreneurship of young Indians & offer them a direction towards their goal.

TechnoPark

TechnoPark is a strategically devised innovation park of its kind. The park aims to provide ample opportunities to new innovation, start-ups and ideas for their evolution to next level.

The TechnoPark is a stage to display innovative skills to the world, with cutting edge competition between student’s team participating from different colleges. TechnoPark wishes to provide investment opportunities to the deserving team through a simple selection process.

Be a part of it if you want to learn from them. We are providing a platform in which successful entrepreneurs and co-founders will interact and guide the budding innovators.

ITM (Innovation That Matters)

ITM is all about to bring forth the grassroots creativity before the visitors. Innovative projects from UG/PG students from your institution must be submitted by February 15, 2016.

• Free stalls will be provided to all paticipating groups to display their innovation/products
• Travel allowances (train fare upto Silchar) will be provided to two members of all participating groups by the shortest route.
• All expenses of food and accomodation of participants will be borne by the Institute.
• The exhibition serves as a platform to obtain feedback on select technologies from the visitors which is then used while discussing the value addition plan of the technologies so as to make them market/user friendly.
• ITM offers opportunities for the innovators to directly advertise their products and get opinions from customers and in turn improving the product.
• ITM serves as a great motivation for the visitors who at times voluntarily support the creativity of participants to the best of their ability and time.
• Technology clearing house will also be organized at the venue where presentations on potential technologies are made before entrepreneurs and investors so that they can promote technologies as per the need of the market.
